Hi friend,

Last week’s news is nothing short of devastating. For nearly fifty years, Roe v. Wade codified one of the most fundamental rights for millions in our country, and its reversal takes our nation back generations. I’m mourning for our sisters, mothers, daughters, and granddaughters who are less safe in this country than they were a week ago.

I’ve heard a lot of frustration towards Democrats in the last week, and I understand the anger. We need big action on the federal level, beginning with amending the filibuster so Congress can codify reproductive rights. We need bold steps, so the right to bodily autonomy can never come into question again.

But in the meantime, the Supreme Court has put the onus on the states to decide if and how they will protect the right to choose. But the majority of Texans have decided: women deserve abortion access in our state.

Texas Democrats are committed to doing everything in our power to reinstate and expand abortion access so every woman and pregnant person in our state can feel safe calling Texas home. We need real leaders who are committed to this fight in our State Legislature and in the Governor’s office. That’s the only way to bring reproductive justice back to Texas.

So friend, WHEN we win power back this November, this is what we’re going to do:

- Repeal HB 128 (the “Trigger Law” passed in the 87th Legislative Session)
- Repeal SB 8 (six-week abortion ban)
- Repeal SB 4 (ban on medication abortion after 7 weeks and the prohibition on telemedicine used to acquire it)

Asking for resources right now in the midst of all this anger and devastation feels strange for us too. But friend, the bottom line is that reinstating Roe in Texas can only happen if we take back power in our state, and we can only take back power if we win up and down the ballot in November, and we can only win in November with a tremendous amount of resources.


So I’m asking: will you pledge a $7 contribution before our critical end-of-quarter fundraising deadline?
