WASHINGTON—Freedom House is pleased to announce Christian Bowman as the new vice president for talent and culture. Bowman brings extensive experience in talent acquisition; diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); and capacity building. Bowman will lead the development of a new human resources strategy that supports Freedom House’s world-class global and US-based staff.
“Christian joins Freedom House at a moment when our growth and impact are reaching new heights,” said Freedom House president Michael J. Abramowitz. “I am delighted to welcome Christian as a key member of our leadership team. His new ideas and innovative approaches will power our work worldwide.”
Bowman has over 25 years’ experience working in human resources at large, complex international development organizations, in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Bowman most recently served as the senior director of human resources at Chemonics International. He previously held senior leadership positions at FHI 360, Creative Associates International, RTI International, the Academy for Educational Development, and the International Rescue Committee. Additionally, he has extensive international field and travel experience.
Bowman holds a BA in political science from California State University, Chico and an MPA in public and nonprofit management from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University. Bowman also maintains a senior professional in human resources (SPHR) certification from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
