john,

It's been nearly one week since we learned the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. It's been a devastating and difficult few days, but it has reminded me of one of the reasons I ran for Congress in the first place.

As a doctor, I have always believed that deeply personal reproductive decisions should be made by a patient, together with her doctor. And after years of watching male politicians with no medical experience presume that they could make these healthcare decisions for women, I got tired of it and decided to run for office myself.

I am proud of the work I've done in Congress to protect the rights of women to make their own reproductive healthcare decisions, including passing the Women's Health Protection Act last year to make Roe the law of the land. So long as I am your representative, I will fight every effort to take away a woman’s right to choose – but I need your help to stay in Congress.

Election experts are calling the race for WA-08 a "toss-up," and I'm facing four anti-choice Republicans. If any of my extreme opponents are sent to Congress, they will likely support Kevin McCarthy's proposed national abortion ban. We can't put this most important, most personal healthcare decision into the hands of politicians.

I'm hoping to count on your support before tonight's FEC end-of-quarter fundraising deadline to ensure I have the resources to take on my anti-choice opponents and continue defending reproductive rights in Congress.

Will you chip in $5 or more before midnight to keep the only pro-choice woman doctor in the House? >> https://secure.actblue.com/donate/schrier-june22-eoq

Thank you,

Kim
