John,
Parents and educators are weighing in at the Children’s Carnival on right-wing attacks from those who want to minimize Black history and what it teaches us about civil rights and racial justice.
At the Children’s Carnival, we are providing Black youth with opportunities to be represented in art and books, and explore parts of their history alongside educators, community members, and their families.
John, we know the past few weeks have been A LOT. But Color Of Change is not ceding an inch to right-wing enablers, especially not in our children’s schools! That’s why we’re uplifting the Children’s Carnival as an opportunity to explore how we will protect Black youth and educators against the tide of these attacks.

Thank you, The Color Of Change Team
John, we just wrapped the first of our three multi-city events called Color Of Change’s 2022 Children’s Carnival. Our first was a huge success with more than 500 folks in Houston. Our next two will take place in Miami and Philly! These carnivals are Black youth-focused, community-centered events where we discuss what is at stake for the future of our children’s education.
$5 can help us purchase additional books and supplies
$10 can help us provide more nutrient-rich foods to guests
$25 can help us continue to uplift our safety and sanitation precautions
$50 can help us guarantee another event like this in the future
The Children’s Carnival raises awareness about the folks in power who are working to erase historical and contemporary Black history from public school curriculums. To date, 17 states have imposed anti-CRT bans and restrictions through legislation or other avenues; 42 other states have introduced bills or taken steps to downplay basic facts about Black history from our children’s textbooks and teacher’s lesson plans.1
John, we don’t side with right-wing dogma. We side with parents and educators who believe that all children deserve to be represented in the books they read and empowered with accurate knowledge about their history.
That’s why we’re supporting this necessary work to host the Children’s Carnival and other programs like it. We’ll use this opportunity to explore how to fight back against anti-CRT rhetoric and other right-wing-fueled attacks on racial progress.
