Have I mentioned lately that my wife Amanda is my hero?



Nine years ago, Amanda's ex-husband walked out, emptied the bank account, and left her with 7-month-old twins. Starting over with nothing, she took a 100% comission job as a financial advisor, knocked on doors, and built a multi-million dollar business helping women and families protect themselves from the kind of hardship she endured and go on to thrive.



This week, she's taking a HUGE leap of faith for our family and FINALLY moving to FishHawk with me!

Let me just say that getting married during the pandemic was challenging. Both of us own businesses on oposite ends of the east coast–her in Maine, and mine here in Florida. I got to learn what northern life was like for a bit, going back and forth all year to spend time with my new family, as I paved the way for their move down south (remind me to tell you the story of how I learned what a snowblower was by nearly breaking it tilling her garden).



During this transitional period in our lives, I've spent a lot of time thinking about how all families look different, and a long distance relationship with the love of my life and only getting to see her and my kids on weekends for the first two years of our marriage is how my family has looked like. And that's okay, because you do what you have to do for the people you love. And this time has only inspired me even more to fight for a better Florida for ALL of the families in my district that I represent.



Anyways, all that is behind us now, the POD is packed and waiting in our new driveway in FishHawk, Amanda and the twins just touched down in Tampa, and me and the dog Lucy are heading south in the U-Haul for what I can only assume will be a terrible 24-hours on I-95!
