As we close out Pride month I wanted to take some time to celebrate the achievements of the LGBTQIA+ community this past year, and highlight the continued work needed to protect the rights of those in the Queer community moving forward.
This year the New York State Senate set aside $12.5 million for LGBTQ health services in the 2022 State Budget as well as created a $5 million fund for organizations helping transgender and non-binary New Yorkers, the largest allocation of funds for the trans community yet. While New York State is working towards more inclusivity, the rights of transgender and queer citizens are being threatened nationally.
New York needs to take a stronger stand to protect and uplift the queer community and lead the way towards equality throughout the country.
If elected to the State Senate, I will fight to pass comprehensive legislation that protects the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community from discrimination in housing, criminal justice, education, health care, immigration, and economic mobility.
John,
, my next fundraising deadline is coming up quickly and I need your support to fight for Equality in the State Senate. Every dollar allows me to connect with new voters, hire more staff and pass out more literature. Will you join a community-centered campaign fighting for all?
