Indiana Grown celebrates local farmers, business owners at fifth Monumental Marketplace

Indiana Grown?s annual Monumental Marketplace event brought Hoosiers together for the fifth time to showcase Indiana agriculture. More than 50 vendors from around the state traveled to downtown Indianapolis to offer shoppers their locally made goods.

Located on historic Monument Circle, Monumental Marketplace was free to attend and open to all with a variety of food, beverages, handmade items, plants and more.?

Be sure to shop local again at the Indiana Grown Marketplace during the?Indiana State Fair, July 29-August 21 (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) in the Agriculture/Horticulture building.?

Indiana FFA elects 2022-23 State Officers

The Indiana FFA Convention was held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds for the second time in the organization?s history. Sessions were held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, with judging events held at Hamilton Southeastern High School, and some banquets and workshops held at Conner Prairie.

The following members were named to the 2022-2023 Indiana FFA State Officer team:

Secretary ? Tobias Sturgell, Indian Creek
Northern Region Vice President ? Mary Jones, Adams Central
Southern Region Vice President ? Jenna Kelsay, Whiteland

*Farm Service Agency Now Accepting Nominations for Farmers to Serve on Local County Committees? *

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency [ [link removed] ] (FSA) is now accepting nominations for county committee members. Elections will occur in certain Local Administrative Areas (LAA) for members. LAAs are elective areas for FSA committees in a single county or multi-county jurisdiction. This may include LAAs that are focused on an urban or suburban area.

County committee members make important decisions about how Federal farm programs are administered locally. All nomination forms for the 2022 election must be postmarked or received in the local FSA office by Aug. 1, 2022.?

Food Safety Certification for Specialty Crops Program

The USDA recently announced the Food Safety Certification for Specialty Crops Program will provide financial assistance for specialty crop operations that incur eligible on-farm food safety program expenses related to obtaining or renewing a food safety certification in calendar years in 2022 or 2023. The program aims to helps offset the costs to comply with regulatory requirements and market-driven food safety certification requirements.?
