The UAE announced it will ban screenings of Disney Pixar’s newest animated movie “Lightyear” because of a same-sex kiss.

UA Media Regulatory Office Executive Director Rashid Khalfan Al Nuaimi said that the film was banned due to on-screen depictions of “homosexual” characters. The film features a kiss between two women.

The news comes despite the UAE announcing it would no longer censor films last year. Homosexuality and same-sex relationships remain illegal in the country.

What do you think of the UAE and other countries’ movie censoring?
