Dear John, These unprecedented times present a unique opportunity to send Dr. Kermit Jones to the House of Representatives in November. I often say that we have to contest every race, and make sure we have a Democrat on every ballot, because you never know if the opponent will end up being charged with a crime or some other unpredictable election-changing event will occur. Well, that just may have happened. Just this week, the NPR/PBS/Marist poll has shown a 10 point swing on the generic ballot from the April poll.
Now, the reasons for this dramatic shift are beyond horrible. Between the Supreme Court Dobbs decision removing a fundamental personal right for 50% of the population, and the indisputable knowledge that Donald Trump engaged in criminal acts to overturn our election, the mood in the electorate is shifting. NOW IS THE TIME FOR BOLD ACTION! We need to turbocharge every viable California Congressional Candidate’s campaign with an infusion of cash.
As you know, the newly drawn CA-03 is close to my heart. It contains some of the most special places in California: Lake Tahoe, Mono Lake, Payahuunadu, and of course, Mammoth Lakes. So many people worked to build power in the Sierra Nevada last cycle, and we have a new district that Trump would have won by only 2 points. This is a swing district with open-minded No Party Preference voters who will vote for Kermit when they hear his message. A few kew reminders about the race:
We have an amazing candidate! Dr. Kermit Jones declared for Congress in early 2021 and has been working hard to create a coalition of folks across CA-03. The in-district excitement is enormous, and Kermit outperformed candidates in the primary who already have national attention.
CA-03 is an open seat. Tom McClintock, who has represented the old Tahoe District since 2012, is running in a safer, more Republican seat on the western side of the Sierra. Kermit’s opponent, Kevin Kiley is an anti-choice Trump sycophant who refused to say who won the 2020 election in a recent debate.
I remain hopeful that the enormous support that like-minded people brought forth in 2018 and 2020 will re-emerge even stronger in 2022. We can hold the house!
