One of the latest appalling revelations of the January 6th investigation is that Trump’s people had organized a whole slate of fake electors in battleground states across the country. It was a switcheroo that, if it hadn’t barely failed, would have thrown the country into a constitutional crisis.

On the list of fake electors from the state of Nevada: Jim Marchant.

Yep, that’s the current Republican nominee for NV secretary of state -- the person who would be in charge of counting ballots there in the next election. In 2020, he chose to be an official alternate on Trump’s faux list of electors.

Let’s be clear about something. These fake electors had no illusions about what they were trying to do: toss aside the will of the voters and install their preferred president. That’s a coup attempt, plain and simple. And if they were willing to go to those lengths in 2020, God only knows what they’ll try if they get the keys to oversee the next election.

We’re busy ramping up our efforts in Nevada as I write this, and we’re struggling to keep pace with the growing network of “America First” candidates.
