Senator Cornyn and I took the same oath, but only one of us is taking it seriously.

Team,

I took an oath as a member of the United States Air Force to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. So did John Cornyn when he became Senator nearly two decades ago.

That means that Sen. Cornyn has a constitutional duty to put our country over political party, hear out the facts, and make a well-reasoned decision as to whether the allegations that the president abused his power for political gain warrant impeachment. Instead, here’s what Sen. Cornyn is saying before seeing any evidence in the Senate.

Sen. Cornyn is violating his oath of office. Will you pitch in to help me defeat him next November?

As a combat veteran, it is unconscionable to me that a senator would flat-out reject his oath. Yet Sen. Cornyn has done just that, day after day, since the impeachment inquiry began.

As The Washington Post reported, Sen. Cornyn has vowed not to pay attention to the proceedings. And he tried to use the situation to deflect from his total lack of legislative accomplishments for Texans, going so far as to shift the blame to the American people. Take a look:

Sen. Cornyn has been Mitch McConnell’s right-hand man in burying legislation on critical issues -- like universal background checks, lower prescription drug prices, and improved election security -- in Mitch McConnell’s legislative graveyard. We won’t let him hide from his record of putting his D.C. bosses and the special interests over Texans.

I took an oath to defend our Constitution when I served in our military. So did John Cornyn when he became Senator. He is violating his oath.

Sen. Cornyn has forgotten about the people and the Constitution he serves. It’s time we send him home. Will you pitch in to help me defeat him?

Thanks,

MJ Hegar
