[1]NNU - Medicare for All!

Last night, close to 500 people joined our latest Medicare for All
National Strategy Call to hear campaign updates and get plugged into the
next steps ahead in our fight. I wanted to share a quick summary of what
we covered and how you can jump in.

If you’d like a recording of the call, please reply to this email to
request one.

NNU President and RN, Deborah Burger, helped open the call by providing
some much needed inspiration and hope. She spoke to [ [link removed] ]NNU’s response to
the overturn of Roe vs. Wade and nurses’ outrage toward this decision.
Deborah reminded us that our fight for Medicare for All is a key part of
the fight back — the struggle for the kind of health care system,
democracy, and future we deserve.

On the call, we also took stock of our recent victories. As you know,
Senator Bernie Sanders reintroduced the Medicare for All bill in the
Senate this spring. We recapped everything that we did — with your help —
in the lead up to the reintroduction, including our Senate Organizing
Committees, Medicare for All Fest, and our Week of Action QR Code
Canvasses. Amirah Sequeira, NNU’s Legislative Director, spoke and reminded
us that this grassroots organizing was key to the victory we achieved of
securing 15 original Senate cosponsors on the bill.

We also covered our continued efforts to focus on key Congressional
districts to push priority representatives to cosponsor Medicare for All.
If you live in or near one of those priority Congressional districts —
FL-09, NJ-03, CA-26, TX-34, or OH-03 (Not sure of your district? [ [link removed] ]Check
here!) — [ [link removed] ]sign up now to get involved in our summer escalation plans!

And we officially relaunched our Patients Over Profits campaign ahead of
the 2022 midterms with the goal of getting at least 100 state and local
candidates and elected officials to sign on and pledge to reject campaign
donations from the corporate health care industry. As a volunteer, you’ll
help reach out to folks in your area to ask them to take the pledge.
[ [link removed] ]Fill out the form now and we’ll send you everything you need to get
started! Be sure to sign up for a training call on July 7 or July 12.

[ [link removed] ]sign up »I hope you’ll join us this summer to take action. These times
aren’t easy, but we’re ready to fight back, and we know you are too.

I’m so grateful to be in this fight with you. Let’s move forward
together, hand in hand, toward health care justice.

In Solidarity,

Jasmine Ruddy
