PLANNED PARENTHOOD
For now, abortion is still legal in most states. If you or someone you know is pregnant and seeking an abortion, go to AbortionFinder.org now to learn about your options.

It's been a rough couple of days. Here at Planned Parenthood, we've felt a range of emotions. Disbelief. Rage. Anguish for those most directly affected. Deep, deep sadness for our community, our country, and our future.

This pain is real — it reflects the lived experiences and honest truth of millions of people whose rights have been taken away by the Supreme Court majority. And those experiences, that truth, have power. They help us connect with each other, support each other, and find the courage to speak about what matters most.

Telling our own stories, in our own words, is a powerful way to show how dangerous the Supreme Court ruling is and to demand action from lawmakers.

If you have an experience you're willing to share — whether it's about needing an abortion yourself or supporting a loved one — join us for a National Volunteer Program Storyteller Training tomorrow night at 7pm EST. You'll learn how to talk about abortion effectively, reduce abortion stigma, and share your story. When you're ready, you can share your story using the hashtag #WhateverTheReason.

Every time we share our stories, we help expose the cruelty of the Supreme Court's decision. Every time we speak openly, we help others find the courage to do the same. Every one of our stories matters — and that's why we're seeing so many people speak out right now.

In 1919, my great-great-grandmother (also named Celia) died of an illegal & unsafe abortion. She was a mother of 2, an immigrant, & a businesswoman. I'm in this fight for her & everyone who has ever or will ever have an abortion. #BansOffOurBodies #WhateverTheReason

Do you have a story to share? Post to social media with the hashtag #WhateverTheReason.

And don't forget to join us for National Volunteer Program Storyteller Training Thursday, June 30 at 7:00 ET.

Speaking out about your personal connection to abortion will help put a stop to the stigma around abortion. Sharing your experiences about driving a friend to an abortion provider or supporting your partner during their abortion helps others see that they are not alone and that everyone benefits from access to safe, legal abortion. Our stories give lawmakers the political courage to push back on state abortion bans — but only if we are willing to tell them openly.

The success of this effort hinges on people who have never even considered telling their stories publicly. Speak out. We can do this. YOU can do this. And if you need support, we're there for you.

Thank you for everything you've already done and will do – including taking good care of yourself and those around you – as we reckon with this decision and fight for the health care and justice we deserve.
