Like many of you, I’ve spent much of the last few days in alternating states of fury and utter dejection and disbelief.
I’m furious that the right wing majority of the Supreme Court by overturning Roe has created an America where half its population is now less equal. And, I fear that the Court’s decision to jettison over 50 years of legal precedent and overturn Roe has emboldened the most extreme elements of the GOP.
Make no mistake, the GOP is gearing up to take our Democratic majority and human rights away from us. Their leaders want a national abortion ban. Justice Thomas wants the Court to reconsider rulings governing the protection of contraception, same-sex relationships and same-sex marriage. They want to turn back the clock - way back - to a time when women had no control over their bodies, lives and futures.
Human rights and decency are on the chopping block. We can’t afford to lose our majority and rights.
Tomorrow marks my first FEC reporting deadline since winning my primary. Strong numbers are critical to show momentum as we head into the midterm election.
