Hours after the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) reversed Roe v. Wade, Amit Paley, The Trevor Project’s CEO & Executive Director, made this statement:
“The Trevor Project will not stop fighting to establish true, lived equality for LGBTQ people, and our counselors are here 24/7 to support all young LGBTQ people across the country who may be feeling a wide range of emotions — including fear, stress, and anxiety — in response to this decision.”
Trevor’s research has found that nearly 70% of LGBTQ young people say efforts to restrict access to abortion leave them feeling stressed or anxious, which makes SCOTUS’s decision even more heartbreaking. In the days since, many LGBTQ young people have reached out to our counselors to share their fears at a time when they’re already dealing with so much.
We hold space for each of them. We assure them that whatever they’re feeling is OK. We tell them they are loved and that they aren’t alone.
With your partnership and support, Trevor will not stop until all LGBTQ young people are safe and loved for who they are. Thank you, in advance, for your generosity.
In solidarity,
