Dear Friend, I wanted to quickly share with you the news that the Wall Street Journal — one of the nation’s largest newspapers — is running a piece I wrote today castigating the New York City Health Department's "Let's Talk Fentanyl" campaign promoting illegal drug use. As part of the campaign, the Department is placing signs throughout New York City saying, "Don't be ashamed you are using, be empowered that you are using safely." Read the piece on the Wall Street Journal website here. Click here to read a PDF copy if you don't have a Wall Street Journal subscription. As I lay out in the piece, our approach to addiction treatment needs to be compassionate. But desensitizing and normalizing drug use is not the answer. Recovery, not addiction, is empowering. Read the full piece to learn about the dangerous path being taken by the harm reduction movement and the best approach to the addiction epidemic. As always, thank you so much for your support. Being able to have SAM’s work printed in such notable media outlets speaks volumes to the influence our movement has and provides much-needed balance to the conversation that so routinely gets crowded with pro-industry voices. We could not do any of this without you. Could you chip-in $1,000, $500, $250, or even just $100 to our cause today? No matter the amount, your gift will help keep us on the front of the fight against normalizing drug use and the unlimited amount of funding available to the pot industry and its supporters. <<<Donate to SAM Today>>> Thank you for all that you do.
