John,
Gasoline prices are out of control, and we're all hurting. Many of us who had made summer plans to see friends or family are scrambling because gas is just too expensive! Politicians pin the blame on a lot of things— from the supply chain to imaginary White House policies against new drilling.
But there’s a simple solution to high gas prices: Stop sending gasoline out of the country.

Nearly all the gas sold is produced in the United States. But, Big Oil is selling to the highest bidder — right now oil corporations can profit more by selling to other countries, driving up prices at home. It’s simple supply and demand. We’re currently exporting near-record levels of gasoline and diesel products, wiping out consumers at the pump here at home.
Sending U.S. gas supplies to other countries hurts families who are struggling to fill up their gas tanks. Tell your members of Congress to support a halt on gasoline exports!

And, Big Oil is exploiting the high prices they’ve created to call for more drilling and fracking, which will only lock us into decades more greenhouse gas pollution and speed up climate chaos. That's the last thing we need.

In the long term, the best way to meet our energy needs is to double down on bold investments in renewable energy and shut down the fossil fuel industry. A rapid transition off fossil fuels protects consumers, global stability, and our climate. But for right now, the best way to lower prices is to stop gas exports.
Let’s rein in gasoline exports as part of a strategy to reduce our fossil fuel dependence. Make sure your representative hears from you! Tell Congress: Stand up to the oil industry and stop gasoline exports!
