Republicans here in Florida and across the nation are still waging their culture war, promoting divisive policies that hurt LGBTQ+ people, prevent minority communities from voting, and take reproductive rights away from women.

Meanwhile, Democrats are focusing on the real problems hard working Americans face every day. For example, the House just passed the Lower Food & Fuel Costs Act , which will bring down the skyrocketing costs of food, gas, and other staples.

Sometimes I wonder why someone like Ron DeSantis decides to run for office. Did he have a burning desire to deprive children of vaccines, stop women from accessing health care, and prevent Black people from voting?

I do know why I chose to go into public service — to help people. Those of us who have been given the privilege of representing Americans should be working to make people’s lives easier, not harder.

This upcoming FEC filing deadline is a really big deal. It’s our chance to show our strength and prove that we have what it takes to beat the GOP and their shameful policies once and for all.
