As we wrap up this quarter, I’m thinking about everything we’ve accomplished in the past three months.
I’m so proud of our team, and how fearless you all have been in fighting for our values and for the future we want for this country. It’s because of y’all I was chosen as the first Black Democratic nominee to run for U.S. Senate in Kentucky. Your support is the reason why we’re able to build the biggest grassroots movement Kentucky has ever seen. Together, we’re already making history.
But I know it hasn’t been easy. From the Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, the violent gun massacres we’ve witnessed in Uvalde and Buffalo, and the terrifying details we learned of our leaders' involvement in the January 6 insurrection — it’s clear that there are many challenges ahead of us to fix our politics.
The stakes of our upcoming election couldn’t be higher. We need to give everything we’ve got leading up to November to make sure we get the votes we need in the Senate to abolish the filibuster and finally pass the solutions our communities need.
That’s why I’m reaching out to ask for a favor before the quarter ends tomorrow. You see, my mom taught me that if you have faith just the size of a mustard seed, you can move a mountain. And I have faith that we can defeat Rand Paul and transform our dysfunctional U.S. Senate.
Together, we’re going to fight for a future that lifts up families like yours and mine. Together, we’ll make sure we have the votes to abolish the filibuster so we can finally codify Roe v. Wade in law, pass Medicare for All, and move our fight for racial justice forward. But if we’re going to do this, I can’t do it alone.
