John,
I know things are feeling chaotic this week. With everything going, I felt it was important to hit pause, reflect back on my roots, and give a little more insight about what motivated me to run for Congress.
I hope you'll take a moment to read this entire email and then, only if you'd like, please send in $3 before our big FEC deadline hits tomorrow at midnight.

My mom and dad are immigrants from Taiwan who came to the U.S. because they loved this country and believed in the American Dream.
My dad tried climbing the corporate ladder, but as an Asian immigrant in the late 70s, it became clear he would never get the promotion he wanted. So, he started his own business instead.
Working with my parents was a tough lesson in what putting food on the table meant. It was also a reminder that despite how hard we worked, we could still be treated like foreigners by some. It's unfortunate, and it's been disheartening to see the anti-Asian sentiment only worsen in recent years.
A key part of the solution is making sure our government reflects the diversity of our communities; not just at face value, but because the principles we were raised with represent the very best that the U.S. has to offer -- service, hard work, and love of country.
We cannot look the other way when politicians stoke ethnic suspicion, fear, and hate the way my opponent has. These are painful distractions from real issues that need to be addressed with urgency -- reproductive rights, childcare, healthcare, housing, and education. That’s a big reason why I’m in this fight.
Orange County has an opportunity to get the representation we deserve, but only if we can compete with the flood of special interest cash backing my opponent. That’s why I’m asking you to send in $3 before our FEC deadline to help us flip this seat.
