Kitsap County

The Kitsap County Coroner's Office will hold a public burial ceremony at 10 a.m. July 9 at the Silverdale Pioneer Cemetery (also known as the Silverdale Cemetery) for four county residents who were considered indigent at the time of their passing.

Through no fault of their own, these residents passed away without family or funds for a final resting place. The Coroner's Office strongly believes these individuals deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. Thanks to a generous donation from Sue Brown several years ago, Kitsap County was gifted two large cemetery plots at the Old Silverdale Cemetery. These plots provide a beautiful setting for these individuals to be interred.

Chaplain Joe Schweiger of Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue will officiate a short ceremony. Everyone is welcome to attend to show respect for the four departed individuals, and that they are not alone and will not be forgotten.

Those being interred are:

The cemetery is located off Impasse Place NW in Silverdale. From Central Kitsap High School, travel northwest on NW Anderson Hill Road for about 1.4 miles. Turn right on Impasse Place NW near the Anderson Hill athletic fields. The entrance to the cemetery is marked and gated at the base of a small hill directly across from the athletic fields.
