Our commitments to youth mental health

The U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, reached out to Challenge Success and a handful of other ([link removed]) organizations ([link removed]) to help create detailed action plans to address the youth mental health crisis that has been exacerbated by the pandemic. We are proud to have been one of just a few non-profit organizations to be recruited by the Surgeon General, and we are excited to share the following commitments we have made.

Challenge Success Student Data Report
We commit to sharing the results from over 200,000 students surveyed in middle and high schools across the country in the past several years on issues related to their emotional and physical health and well-being, sense of belonging and connection in schools, and engagement in school and learning. Findings will be disseminated widely to help educators, clinicians, and policy makers address the current crisis.

Student “Fishbowls”
Over the course of the year, we will conduct a series of fishbowl focus groups with a diverse group of middle school and high school youth to better understand what students believe schools can do to support their well-being.

Free Webinars for Adults Who Work with Youth:
This year we will lead two free, open to the public, webinars on strategies for increasing youth well-being and mental health, including an overview of current research on youth well-being and ways to increase student belonging, healthy adult-student relationships, student voice, and positive coping strategies.

Challenge Success is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and relies on donations to offer programs like these and many others. Please consider making a donation to support our ongoing work towards well-being and engaged learning for all youth.
