We’re not going to lie to you: This is a bad sign – a really, really, bad sign.
Here’s why: With just over 4 months to go before November’s make-or-break midterms, we Democrats should be focusing all our efforts and resources on expanding our Senate majority by at least 2 seats so we can end the filibuster , add new justices to the Trump-stacked Supreme Court , and stop their all-out assault on our civil rights.
Instead, we’re so far behind the Republicans that we’re having to divert millions of dollars from our best pickup opportunities to shore up what should have been totally safe seats, just so we don’t LOSE the majority!
This is very, very bad.
And we have to admit, we just don’t understand it. With everything that’s at stake this year, and with everything the Republicans are doing to undo democracy and strip folks of their basic rights, Democrats should be every bit as fired up to win as we were in 2020, if not more so!
Instead, this has been the worst fundraising month we’ve seen in a long while – not just for us, but for Democrats across the board.
To a point, we get it – prices are up, the stock market is down, and people are justifiably worried about the future.
But here’s the thing: If the Republicans take control of Congress in November, inflation and our 401Ks will be the least of our worries – we’ll be too busy fighting a losing battle for the literal survival of democracy and our basic human rights.
They’ve already overturned Roe v. Wade , and that’s without them even having a majority in either house of Congress. Justice Thomas has already signaled they’re coming for contraception and gay rights next, and it’s unlikely they’ll stop there.
It’s time for Democrats across the country to wake up and realize we’re in a battle for our very lives, here.
This isn’t a time to sit on the sidelines and hope someone else will step up – it’s going to take ALL of us working together and giving it everything we’ve got to save each other from what the Republican Party wants to do to our country.

John, the GQP’s far-right base was energized by this month’s SCOTUS ruling.
For them, this wasn’t the culmination of a 50-year fight over a single issue, it was the beginning of a broader assault on the very idea of progress itself – the first shot in a culture war they hope will claw back every bit of ground civil rights activists have gained since the 1950s.
If you care about women, racial minorities, religious minorities, LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, the working class – anyone who isn’t a wealthy, white, straight, Christian man – you’ve got to step up for this fight. This may be the last chance we have to save our country.
It’s up to all of us.
So, here’s the bottom line: Unless we at flip least a few red seats blue in the upcoming midterms, the assaults on our civil rights by a rogue, extremist Supreme Court will continue. Millions of us will lose our rights to live, love, and build our families the way we choose. We may even lose our right to free and fair elections.
We’re not okay with that, and we hope you aren’t either. So please, join the fight to not only save [[link removed]] our Senate majority, but grow it, so we can take meaningful action to protect ourselves from a Supreme Court majority that wants to send us back to the dark ages. [[link removed]]
