At the end of June, I’m up against my first FEC filing deadline since redistricting — meaning that my opponents and their special interest funders will know exactly what we raise.

With so much at stake and our democracy under assault, we need to send a message that our district deserves a principled progressive who cares about our future.

Speaking of the word progressive, I want to take a moment to let you know what it means to me.

It’s easy to call yourself a progressive, but actually being one requires taking hard votes rooted in conviction, not political games.

When the Bush administration lied about WMDs, I refused to vote for the Iraq War because I was looking at evidence — not poll numbers.

And when Donald Trump committed clearly impeachable offenses, I pushed for his impeachment — even when it was politically difficult.

Elizabeth Warren and the Working Families Party back me because they know that I always root my votes in what’s best for working families.

I’m the only candidate running who can say all of that, because I walk the walk —even when it’s hard or politically unpopular.

New Yorkers deserve a principled progressive who is in public service for the right reasons.
