Critical Affordable Housing Legislation Advances!

Great news: NPH-sponsored bills move ahead!

  • Last week AB 2011 (Wicks), the Affordable Housing and High Road Jobs Act, passed out of the Senate Housing Committee and now heads to the Senate Governance and Finance Committee where it will be heard this morning. This bill would open new sites to affordable housing while ensuring every community can grow a thriving, well-paid construction workforce.

  • AB 2244 (Wicks) also passed out of committee unanimously and is now headed to appropriations. This bill would allow faith-based institutions to use their land for affordable housing. It would amend AB 1851 to clearly allow a reduction of up to 50% of religious-use parking spaces in ground-up developments combining new religious institution facilities with new housing.

What Now? As these bills advance, it’s critical that we continue to show our support. Do your part today by submitting an organizational support letter for AB 2011 and AB 2244.
