John,
The primary election results from last night are not what we had hoped for.
While I’m disappointed that today marks the end of my campaign – I’m looking forward to continuing to serve my community and bring progressive reform to Illinois as a State Senator.
This campaign has been about the pursuit of justice for our communities. It’s been about protecting choice, real gun reform that doesn’t compromise our safety, eliminating student debt, Medicare for All, creating jobs with a living wage, and campaign finance reform.
I want to thank each and every one of you who supported this campaign as we fought for change for this district. I congratulate Jonathan Jackson on his victory, and look forward to working together to repair the pain of divestment and discrimination in the first district.
Our country is in need of bold progressive leaders on the federal and state level and I will gladly continue to be one in the Illinois State Senate. Thank you again to my campaign staff, our volunteers, and all of our supporters, I’m thankful to have had you on my team.
Thank you,
Jacqui Collins
