John,
Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe and sent abortion access back to individual states to decide, at least 10 have effectively banned the common, safe, medical procedure. And 16 more have laws on the books that would outlaw or impose extreme restrictions, effectively banning abortion in over half the states in the country. [1]
This is outrageous, horrifying, and most of all cruel. Forcing people to carry unwanted pregnancies and submit to birth is wrong. Don’t let it stand.
Even those who reside in supposed abortion-friendly states will feel the effects of these overwhelming restrictions and bans. Abortion, by its very nature, is a time-based procedure and the infrastructure of existing abortion clinics in these states will be greatly tested as people travel seeking abortion care.
No one can sit out this fight, no matter what zip code you reside in. Give now.
We’re already hearing stories about patients who were minutes away from their abortion procedures being forced to leave clinics after the decision was announced. But, we are also already hearing about those fighting back, like a clinic in Louisiana that sued in the wake of the decision and was granted a temporary ability to continue operating, allowing for many to receive care.
This is going to be long. And it’s going to be hard. And it’s going to be messy. We need you.
Sincerely,
Erin Matson
