The hardest fights are still ahead, and we have a path forward.
John – Last night was a tough night for progressives all around. No part of running for Congress is easy, and it’s even harder for progressive, grassroots candidates who commit to running clean campaigns.
While we didn’t get the results we hoped for in Illinois, we want to thank Marsha Williams for stepping up to run for Congress and fight for progressive policies.
We are also thankful to Marsha for sharing her heartbreaking abortion story with the world and centering reproductive justice in her race. (If you missed Marsha’s powerful story, you can read it here.)
We called it months ago: The Supreme Court has stripped the right to reproductive healthcare away from millions of Americans. That’s why Marsha’s fight – our fight – is not over.
How did we get here? The Republican Party made no secret of their intentions, and they have openly colluded to corrupt the justice system and stack the deck to get the outcome they wanted.
Democrats could have stopped them anytime in the last 50 years – but they never made it a priority.
The Dobbs ruling overturning Roe represents the first time in living memory that the Supreme Court has fully revoked an established constitutional right. And the right-wing extremists have made it clear: they are just getting started.
Every single one of our rights are on the line right now. That’s why we have to send progressive fighters to Congress who are ready to meet this moment and respond like the national emergency it is.
Since 2016 BNC has led the way in advancing popular policies like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. We invest EARLY to help grassroots candidates succeed. We recruited and elected AOC in 2018 and Cori Bush in 2020 alongside Jamaal Bowman and Rashida Tliab. And we have our first win of 2022: Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick won her primary by FIVE votes thanks to BNC.
We have elections from now until November, and our candidates are counting on your support. Pitch in today and join us as we take over Congress and return power to the people.
