John,
We'll be quick - we just wanted to bring two lines from the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization Supreme Court decision to your attention.
First, in the dissent to the overturning of Roe v. Wade , the Justices wrote: " When Roe and Casey disappear, the loss of power, control, and dignity will be immense.”
Second, Justice Clarence Thomas noted in his opinion that because the right to abortion isn't mentioned in the constitution, it isn't a right. Other cases he would like examined? “In future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell.”
Our fear is the Supreme Court is getting ready to overturn cases that enshrine marriage equality, the right to privacy and bodily autonomy. As if LGBTQ kids haven't been targeted with a historic number of anti-LGBTQ bills in the last two years. As if transphobes aren't criminalizing gender-affirming healthcare, trans kids and their parents. As if LGBTQ people don't live in states where you can get married on a Sunday and fired on a Monday, still.
This extremist Court is not done. They'll keep coming for our dignity and our political power. We cannot let them take it from us. This November, our lives are on the ballot. If you can make a donation to help us elect candidates who will enshrine our rights, we appreciate it. [[link removed]]
