The Pebble Mine would destroy thousands of acres of wetlands and miles of salmon streams. It would include a one-mile-wide and one-third-of-a-mile deep pit and construct massive tailings storage facilities, treatment ponds, dams, embankments, and build a 270-megawatt power plant.
Protecting this region creates a win for the environment, the economy, and the communities that depend on it. WWF has long been involved in efforts to protect the Bristol Bay region from development, and from our work alongside local and Indigenous communities, there is no question that the EPA has the support of the people of Bristol Bay.
Ask the EPA to complete the 404(c) process as quickly as possible.
