Just hours after Roe v. Wade was overturned, Kevin McCarthy said he supported a ban on abortion after 15 weeks.
If the GOP manages to take control of the House in November, McCarthy will become Speaker, and Republicans will have the votes to pass a nationwide ban on abortion.
Right now, millions of people throughout the country are hurting, many of them suffering because they can no longer access basic health care needs that – when we all went to bed Thursday night – were guaranteed by our Constitution. And House Republicans want to expand that suffering to all 50 states.
Democrats need to fight for reproductive rights. We need to restore abortion access and reproductive health care all across the nation. David isn’t going to let up, and he’s going to push his colleagues to continue the fight with him. But, friends: stopping a GOP abortion ban will take resources.
