Today, I am proud to share with you that the PCCC is making a major
congressional endorsement for Vermont’s open congressional seat: State
Senator Becca Balint. She is making economic populism key to her campaign
against a more conservative, corporate-funded opponent.

As a Vermont legislator who was in this congressional race until recently,
and as a longtime ally of the PCCC, I am excited to celebrate Becca
Balint’s endorsement. Progressives are united in order to win this seat.

With incumbent Rep. Peter Welch running for Senate, this strongly
Democratic seat is open for the first time since 2006, when Bernie Sanders
left it to run for Senate! It would be malpractice to let it go to a more
conservative Democrat, and it’s a huge opportunity to elect a progressive
leader like Becca who will fight for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal,
corporate accountability, pro-worker policies, reproductive justice, and
so much more.

Our primary is on August 9.

[ [link removed] ]Can you join me and the PCCC in unifying around Becca Balint, so we can
elect a bold progressive to Congress from Vermont? Chip in here.

Vermont has never sent a woman to Congress…until now.

As President Pro Tempore in the Vermont State Senate, Becca Balint has
meaningfully improved life for working families across the state. She
delivered on raising the minimum wage, paid family and medical leave,
Vermont’s first gun violence prevention legislation, increased affordable
housing, and the nation’s strongest protections for reproductive rights.

Before running for office, Becca Balint spent most of her career as a
middle school teacher, where she was a rank-and-file member of the
National Education Association. Unlike her opponent, whose donor base is
filled with lobbyists from industries like Big Pharma and Big Tech, Becca
isn’t taking corporate money at all.

When she’s in Congress I know she will do Vermont proud as a champion for
urgent, systemic change for working families.

Becca and I have been colleagues in the Senate and opponents in the
congressional campaign, but we have never strayed from the ultimate goal
of advancing a popular, progressive agenda. Vermonters witnessed us come
together to unite the progressive movement for this shared purpose.

[ [link removed] ]We need you with us to win on August 9. Please join other PCCC members
in chipping in to Becca Balint’s campaign here to prove what progressives
can do when we build our power together.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.
