I had to send this last message tonight before the polls close. I hope you'll give me the courtesy of reading it before you wrap up for the night.
Along the campaign trail, I've had the chance to put together the three main parts of our pitch to voters, so I'll share those with you quickly:
1. I’m a Democrat running for one of the only "open seats" in the country — it was held by a Republican, but now he's running for a different seat. It's a massive opportunity for us to win. Now election experts are saying this race will be an ultra-competitive toss-up.
2. IRepublicans know that we can win. In past elections, they spent millions of dollars to hold this seat. They know that if we win here, it’ll be much harder for them to win the house.
3. II'm running a campaign based on issues, not on fear and division. I spent my career successfully advocating to expand labor rights and raise the minimum wage for workers.
I hope this all resonates with you and that you believe I'm in this race for the right reasons, unlike politicians who do and say outrageous things just to get attention.
So here's where I ask for your help: We’re still $758 short of Primary Day goal. If we don’t raise that much by midnight, we’ll have a harder time building the robust voter contact operation we need to flip this open seat.
It's so easy to get cynical with politics, but I'm asking you to hang on to hope with me. So that’s why I’m asking one last time: Will you chip in $3 before the polls close at 7pm to help my team win this competitive race?
