ECPAT-USA Responds To The Sentencing Of
Ghislaine Maxwell

With the sentencing of Ghislaine Maxwell to 20 years in prison for her role in enabling Jeffrey Epstein’s web of crimes against children, ECPAT-USA is grateful to the prosecutors and investigators, the jurors, and above all, the courageous survivors who testified about the abuse they experienced at the hands of Maxwell, Epstein, and their network of co-conspirators.

“Today’s sentencing is about accountability, including our collective accountability to victims who seek to bring their abusers to justice and to all children who are at risk of exploitation,” said Lori L. Cohen, ECPAT-USA’s CEO. “Maxwell is merely one individual in a slew of powerful people who believed their privilege put them above the law when in reality, no one has the right to purchase a child for sex.”

ECPAT-USA urges our government officials to make investigating and prosecuting these crimes a priority and will continue to fight for the right of all children to grow up free from the fear of exploitation and trafficking.
