My name is Matt Castelli, I’m a former CIA officer and VoteVets endorsed candidate running to defeat ultra-MAGA Republican Elise Stefanik in New York’s 21st Congressional District.
16 years ago I took an oath to the Constitution, an oath I carried throughout my counterterrorism and national security career with the CIA. An oath I took for life.
My opponent, Elise Stefanik, swore the same oath myself and many who have served our country have taken. She swore to protect our Constitution, to discharge this duty faithfully, and pledged to take this oath without purpose of evasion.
Yet she continues to betray this oath. She has chosen extremist partisan politics over the Constitution - leading the coverup of January 6th and embracing those who attempted to overthrow our government. Now she’s on Trump’s short list for VP. She poses a direct threat not only to our district, but to our democracy.
You and I know that this oath is not taken lightly, it’s part of the fabric of who we are and what it means to serve. As long as Stefanik is in the U.S. House championing extremist conspiracy theories like the ‘Big Lie’ and driving division, our democracy will be threatened.
