Dear JOHN,
With early voting in full swing, it’s easy to be distracted by the work of campaigning – but I want to take a minute to talk about what comes next and what I’ll prioritize in Congress.
The moment I am sworn in as Vermont’s Congresswoman, my focus will be on the most pressing issues facing Vermont and the challenges that only federal action can solve.
I’m ready to get to work right away on:
Caregiving: No Vermonter should be forced to choose between a paycheck and caring for someone they love. I’ll leave it all on the line to make universal paid family and medical leave and affordable high quality child care a reality.
Housing: I know firsthand how hard it is to find affordable housing in Vermont. I’ll deliver federal resources to modernize our wastewater and sewer systems, expand home-buyer assistance, and create eviction prevention services.
Workforce: From emergency rooms to checkout counters to child care centers, workforce shortages are holding back our local economy. I’ll champion investment in apprenticeships, technical schools, and degree programs to support and grow a 21st century workforce in Vermont.
Climate: I’ll make sure Vermont is at the forefront of bold climate action by ending fossil fuel subsidies and redoubling investment in weatherization, clean heat, and electric vehicles and growing our local renewable energy business sector.
Yesterday, our team set a goal of raising $8,000 and we fell $5,000 short. If you share these priorities – which will make a tangible, immediate impact in the lives of Vermonters – can you please chip in $15?
During my years working in Congress, I learned that to get things done you have to bridge the divide. As your Congresswoman, I will work with anyone to do what’s right for Vermont.
