Did you join Seattle Pride this weekend or a Pride event near you?

On the anniversary of Obergefell v. Hodges , it was especially meaningful for Suzan to be there. This was the day that same-sex couples were finally guaranteed the right to marriage and it was a monumental step for LGBTQ+ rights.

But we are facing a grim future, with Roe now overturned, the rights to equality are at stake next. In a solo concurring opinion to last week's devastating decision, Justice Thomas stated,
"For that reason, in future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold , Lawrence , and Obergefell ."
Access to contraception, the right to same-sex relationships, and the right to same-sex marriage are all now at risk.

We need this fight to now move to the Hill and for Congress to codify these crucial protections. This week is the anniversary of a landmark decision for equal rights and a landmark decision for women's rights. But last week, a new court ruling overturned a right to safe and legal abortion access for over half a decade. And now, with trigger laws in place, Republican state legislatures across the country are enacting the very restrictions that we have feared.

So as we commemorate these landmark decisions, let's commit to standing with Suzan in this fight. No matter what, Suzan is committed to fighting for choice, fighting for equality, and fighting for our future.
