Environment Colorado 2022 Fiscal Year-End Drive

Double your impact for the Tongass and other special places with a donation to our 2022 Fiscal Year-End Drive today. From now until midnight tomorrow, all gifts will be MATCHED, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000 nationwide. Are you with us, Friend?

Friend,

When the Trump administration stripped the Tongass National Forest of its Roadless Rule protections, we stood up to defend the forest -- and we're so close to victory, with the Biden administration now in the process of restoring these protections.1

But we can't take our foot off the gas now.

The citizen support that powers our work to protect the Tongass and other environmental treasures is just as crucial as ever, and we need to stand together to push this campaign all the way to the finish line.

Will you donate today to help us reach our goal of raising $50,000 by midnight on June 30, the end of our fiscal year? When you do, your gift will be MATCHED, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000 nationwide.

If any place in our natural world deserves to stay wild, untouched by industry activities that would irreparably damage its iconic wild character, it's the Tongass National Forest in Alaska.

The forest's ancient trees -- groves of spruce, cedar and hemlock that span 17 million acres -- both provide habitat for hundreds of species of wildlife and act together as a sink for huge amounts of carbon that would otherwise accelerate global warming.2

Environment Colorado and our national network have been raising the call to keep the Tongass "roadless" ever since the Trump administration removed Roadless Rule protections for the Tongass shortly before leaving office. Defending the Tongass was right near the top of our list for what steps the Biden White House must take for the environment.

And thanks to the support of people like you, the president heard us loud and clear, signing an executive order on his first day in office directing the Forest Service to start the process of restoring protections for the Tongass.

Now, we're mobilizing to make sure the administration follows through and makes its protections for the Tongass as strong as possible. We know we can win -- but not without our supporters standing with us. Double your impact for our forests with a donation today.

As my colleague Ellen, who leads our efforts to preserve America's public lands, recently put it: "Trees are awesome."

She meant "awesome" literally. And especially when it comes to the Tongass. Towering trunks that predate America itself; iconic wildlife like bears, mountain lions and tiny songbirds called golden-crowned kinglets; enough carbon storage to help regulate the greenhouse gas levels in our entire atmosphere -- forests like the Tongass are an absolutely awe-inspiring force in our natural world.

We're so close to finally restoring Roadless Rule protections for the Tongass.

That's why, from now until midnight tomorrow, generous donors will match all gifts made to our 2022 Fiscal Year-End Drive up to $25,000 nationwide. Will you make a gift right now to help get this crucial campaign across the finish line?

Thank you for standing with us,

Rex Wilmouth
