John,
After a majority of GOP Senators called on the Supreme Court to revisit Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court handed Republicans their biggest wish on Friday by overturning Roe — stripping the rights of millions of women across the nation.
Now, Republicans are working to retake the Senate to restrict reproductive rights even further — and they’re running some of the most extreme candidates we’ve seen yet in key Senate races:
- Herschel Walker, running against Senator Warnock, says he wants to ban abortion with no exceptions.
- Dr. Oz said Roe was “not constitutional” and that he would support even more abortion restrictions if elected to the Senate.
- Blake Masters, running in Arizona, called the decision “a huge victory” minutes after the Supreme Court overturned Roe, saying the “fight must continue”.
- Adam Laxalt in Nevada doubled-down on calling this decision a “historic victory” and made it clear that he thinks politicians like him are “rightful owners” of what women do with their bodies.
The Senate is our last line of defense against the GOP’s effort to pass a nationwide abortion ban. We can’t let ANY of these Trump-endorsed, far-right extremists in Senate chambers. That fight starts right now.
