John,

As a Black woman from a family of seven children, I have a lot of experience giving care and receiving care across my immediate and extended family without any real access to community care systems.

Unfortunately, my experience isn’t unique. For Black people in the U.S., the odds are stacked against us.

This is why we’re carving out a space over Twitter Spaces TODAY at 2pmPT/5pmET for Black women to discuss our historical legacy and how that shapes how we care for one another. We’re especially excited be joined by special guest and actress Brandee Evans!

Join us on Twitter this afternoon — and join the conversation about our struggles and joys as Black Women in care and what we can do to support each other. [[link removed]]

Black women know how racism and misogyny affect so many people’s daily lives – especially caregivers. We’ve seen it first-hand. Black family caregivers, especially Black women, represent a disproportionate number of the estimated 48 million unpaid caregivers in the US. And Black women make up a large share of the caregiving workforce.

I hope you can join me, my colleagues from Caring Across Generations, and Brandee Evans for a critical and engaging conversation about Black women’s caregiving experiences.

Join us on Twitter at 5pm EDT. [[link removed]]
