Friend — I have bad news.

Former Judge Katie O’Malley has launched a series of negative ads attacking my experience.

She’s going negative on TV, on mailers, and on the radio. She thinks she can win this race by diminishing my service and dismissing my record.

I’m disappointed. And honestly, I’m angry. We’ve run this campaign on substance and the issues that matter to you — not attacking other candidates. I will not allow anyone to take away my 30-years of fighting for Maryland and my country.

But I’m not going to sit here and launch an attack right back. That’s the easy thing to do. I think the voters deserve better than a mudslinging contest.

Instead, I’m going to ask you to judge my qualifications for yourself.

I graduated from Harvard Law School in 1992 and have been a lawyer for almost 30 years. I’ve tried cases in state and federal courts, and military proceedings. I’ve represented clients against big tobacco, small businesses against giant corporations, and defended the constitutionality of federal laws that restricted gun sales.

In the Army, I earned a Bronze Star for my service in Iraq and as a Colonel, I commanded a unit of 80 legal professionals as a JAG officer, supporting soldiers in criminal defense, legal assistance, and consumer protection matters.

I also bring unmatched experience in both the executive and legislative branches of government from my time as a Delegate, as Maryland’s Lt. Governor, and as a Congressman. I’ll make sure our laws are applied fairly and justly, and I’ll do whatever I can to change them when we need to.

I’ve gotten big things done for Marylanders, taking guns away from domestic abusers, protecting voting rights, and reforming the military justice system.

My record is about bringing about positive change for you. I’ve taken on the big fights and I’ve gotten results. That’s what Marylanders need from an Attorney General, someone who is tested and can actually deliver progress.

I’m running to continue fighting for change and to reform Maryland’s justice system, defend reproductive rights, and to get guns off the streets.
