Fellow Patriot,
I am proud to share that America First Legal has embarked on an aggressive campaign to fight illegal and unconstitutional discriminatory “woke” practices by big government, big corporations, and big education. This effort is housed in our newly launched Center for Legal Equality.
You might have seen our letter to the Chair of the Board of The Walt Disney Company, [[link removed]] where we asked for an investigation, stating that “the Company’s executives have chosen to discriminate, create a hostile work environment, and drive away creative, loyal, and talented employees: alienate the Company’s core customers; and violate the law all for the purpose of advancing a very narrow political and social agenda promoting, inter alia, sexualizing content provided to young children.”
Or last week, you might have seen our complaints filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission [[link removed]] (EEOC) and with the Department of Education [[link removed]], asking for an investigation into global investment bank Morgan Stanley, Princeton, Harvard and University of Michigan for violating federal civil rights laws prohibiting discrimination based upon race, color, national origin, or sex for their hiring practice that precluded white and Asian students from applying for a training and apprenticeship program and gave preferences to LGBTQ+ students.
And yesterday, we filed a complaint with the EEOC about Yum! Brands, Inc. [[link removed]]--the parent company that operates brands such as KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut–about their unlawful, discriminatory hiring practices. Yum! Brands stated to its shareholders in its Form10-K that it sought to “increase representations of Black and Latinx U.S. associates among our executive and management ranks, franchisees and suppliers over the next 10 years to match the combined demographics of those groups within the U.S.” As I noted in our press release [[link removed]], achieving arbitrary demographic targets for a workforce or supplier based requires pervasive, enduring, and systemic discrimination–all in blatant violation of plain law.
And in a separate letter to David Gibbs, Chief Executive officer of Yum! Brands [[link removed]], in addition to pointing out its unlawful hiring practices, AFL asked Mr. Gibbs to disclose to shareholders and investors a full accounting of the events, circumstances, and business justification behind management’s dissemination of books promoting the sexualization of children and targeting pre-kindergarten through grade three children in the BookIt! program. One book depicts a young boy cross-dressing and another book, targeting children 2-6 years old, promotes drag queens. How does that create shareholder value or enhance the Pizza Hut brand among consumers?
For far too long, corporate America and higher education have been free to violate federal civil rights laws with impunity in the name of a false “diversity, inclusion, and equity” agenda. It is unconstitutional, unlawful, and it must stop. And we will fight to ensure that it does, indeed, stop.
As part of this effort, we launched a virtual hotline [[link removed]] so that our fellow citizens who have been discriminated against under the guise of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” policies, and other woke practices that advance one group of citizens at the expense of others. America First Legal is committed to defending FULL EQUALITY under the law for all American citizens. We will not tolerate the conversion of our workplaces into Marxist propaganda centers. We will not allow segregation, separatism, and destructive racial essentialism to corrupt our civic institutions.
