Rising to the Challenge and Investing in Results
2021 Annual Report Available Now

The past year called much attention to the problems in civics education at all levels.

Many people are discussing the problems, but too few are working toward solutions. At the Jack Miller Center, we are focused on finding solutions and achieving results.

We are pleased to share our 2021 Annual Report ([link removed]) with you as a snapshot of the many ways we are rising to the challenges of our times.

See below for a few highlights from the report.

Change in Higher Education

Since 2004, JMC has been making steady progress restoring education in America's founding principles and history on campus. Now, our diverse network of 1,014 faculty partners are teaching courses on 319 college campuses across the country.

In 2021, JMC sponsored 45 Constitution Day events and 60 additional campus programs, including speaker series, reading groups, and more. In the report, you will read examples of how our faculty partners at Purdue University, Baylor University, University of Colorado-Boulder, and Coastal Carolina University are engaging students in America's founding principles and history in creative ways.

Restoring K-12 Civics Education

In the past year, our efforts at the K-12 level have grown exponentially. In 2021, we expanded our professor-led professional development programs to six regions, added content-based graduate courses in four states, and built a new online resource center ([link removed]) for K-12 teachers.

One of our biggest stories of 2021 is the launch of the American Civics and History Initiative, ([link removed]) a statewide collaborative project with the Bill of Rights Institute and Ashbrook Center to reach half of the history and social studies teachers in Florida by 2022. Due to that program's overwhelming success, we will soon be expanding the statewide initiative to Virginia, Texas, and Wisconsin.
Our Transformational Year

When 2021 started, no one knew how the year would progress. A contentious political climate and ongoing pandemic called much into question. But JMC rose to the challenge and added new programs at the university and K-12 levels.

Now, we are charging ahead to a new chapter of growth. In 2022, we are dramatically expanding our programs, resources, and national reach. To meet these ambitious goals, we are doubling our staff and have many new programs in the pipeline. We have also established a goal of tripling our budget by 2026, the 250th anniversary of our country. Your help, large or small, will be much appreciated.

Thank you for standing with us.
