Iām not just writing as the Chair of Trevorās Board but also as a gay, Mexican-American woman who grew up in a Catholic family in Texas. As a teenager, I struggled ā trying to find my place in a society that didnāt reflect who I was on the outside or inside.
All month long, Trevor has shared āStories of Prideā and Iām telling you mine today because I never want an LGBTQ young person to struggle. Thatās why Iāll always support Trevor and its life-saving suicide prevention and crisis intervention services ā and why Iām asking you to join me and Trevorās Board of Directors today.
Weāve also asked Trevor friends and supporters to share their āStories of Pride,ā including Frankie Grande:
This month, like every June, an increased number of LGBTQ young people have been contacting Trevor. Without love and support from their community, Pride can be more isolating than celebratory. So, we assure the young people who reach out to us that they are not alone ā and that we love them.
The Trevor Project is the worldās largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people.
