Friends -
This Thursday at midnight we close the books on our first official FEC fundraising deadline since launching our campaign in New York's 17th district.
Let me tell you: The worst part about running for Congress is the obscene amount of money it takes to run a winning campaign.
It's part of the reason why people like my opponent happily take massive checks from corporate PACs, Wall Street banks, and big insurance companies — it's easy.
I'll be perfectly clear: That's not how we're running this campaign. Not now, not ever.
The only way we fund our movement is together, with lots and lots of people making grassroots contributions and chipping in what they can.
For that reason, we have some pretty ambitious fundraising goals we need to reach before this deadline ends. And we need as many individual donations as we possibly can between now and then to get there.
These next two days are two of the most important of this entire campaign, so I have to ask:
In just a few days' time, we're going to report how much we've raised, and how many donations make up that total. We'll report them no matter what, big or small, so I'm really hoping we can share some good news.
I'm incredibly proud of the way we're funding this campaign, and I hope you are too. Thanks for adding your support today if you can.
