As I saw my name on the ballot, I reflected on my parents who walked desserts, crossed rivers, and broke through many barriers to give me a chance at a better life. I thought about Logan Square and Humboldt Park, the first communities to welcome my family. I remembered the fights we won TOGETHER in Springfield, from expanding Medicaid to creating an elected school board in Chicago, and the many battles we have been a part to fight for affordable housing.
I am reflecting on everything that is at stake in this election–the many that have been left out because of corporate greed, corruption, and politicians that have sold out their communities for their interests.
When we launched our campaign, I promised to be the opposite of that. I committed to build upon the work we have accomplished here in Illinois. And I stay steadfast in that promise.
Today, as we finish this race together, you are all in my heart and mind. We have less than 12 hours before polls close and I will be out all day talking with voters in every part of the district.
Thank you for everything you have done to put us in a great position to win today. I truly could not be here without your support.
Best,
Delia Ramirez
