Economists Hysterically Misread Supreme Court’s Dobbs Ruling on Abortion - Economists tend to believe that they deserve deference on a broad range of public policy questions that involve much more than economic analysis. They often say they are guided by reason and science. But economists’ wildly inaccurate reaction to the Supreme Court’s decisionFriday in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization should lead us to take a closer look at how sober and rational these academic experts really are. A group of economists insists that the planned academic conferences of the American Economic Association be moved from Louisiana in 2023 and Texas in 2024 because bans on abortions in those states will put their lives in danger. Touchdown! Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Football Coach’s Right to Prayer After a seven-year legal battle, the Supreme Court on Monday affirmed Kennedy’s right to take a knee in silent prayer in view of the public after high school football games.  “The Free Exercise and Free Speech Clauses of the First Amendment protect an individual engaging in a personal religious observance from government reprisal,” Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote in the 6-3 majority opinion, adding that the Constitution “neither mandates nor permits the government to suppress such religious expression.” The landmark decision affirms that “[n]o American should have to choose between their faith and their job.” Heritage Experts: Sarah Parshall Perry and Virginia Allen

Biden’s Radical, Anti-Fossil Fuel Energy Policy Costs Americans DearlyIt was no secret on the campaign trail that Joe Biden wanted to end America’s use of conventional energy such as coal, oil, and natural gas. Biden’s first executive orders in office deployed a sweeping regulatory agenda throughout the executive branch to that end. This radical agenda has been the consistent message and persistent policy choice of the administration. Heritage Expert: Katie Tubb

The Devastating Impact of Rising Food Prices on Americans – Food prices in May 2022 were a whopping 10.1% higher than prices in May 2021. The size of these food price increases have not been seen in over 40 years and are occurring across food categories, from fresh fruits (8.5%) to fish and seafood (12.2%). Over the past nine months, each month’s year-over-year food price increase has been above 4%, with each successive month higher than the previous—starting at 4.6% in September and reaching 10.1% in May. If Garland, Local Prosecutor Won’t Protect Justices, Virginia Governor and State AG Must Act - With U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and Fairfax County, Virginia, Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano refusing to enforce federal and state laws against the pro-abortion protesters who are  intimidating and threatening Supreme Court justices and their families who live in Virginia, it’s time for Gov. Glenn Youngkin and state Attorney General Jason Miyares to step in and use their statutory power to arrest, prosecute, and seek the maximum penalty for every day the protesters are violating the law. The lack of action by Garland and Descano is encouraging the “summer of rage,” leading not only to the arrest of an individual who wanted to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh, but also attacks on pro-life charities and pregnancy resource centers.  Heritage Expert: Hans von Spakovsky
