Hi – it's Jim Obergefell. You may remember me as the plaintiff in the Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges, which made marriage equality the law of the land seven years ago.

Now, I'm running for state legislature in Ohio – I urgently need your help to win, and the DLCC needs your help to flip state legislatures blue and elect Democrats who will protect our health, our rights, and our livelihoods.

By now, you know that last week, the Supreme Court followed through on its threat to overturn Roe v. Wade. But the decision wasn't just a devastating blow for abortion rights – it portended a similar fate for rights that, like abortion, are based on the right to privacy.

In fact, in a concurring opinion, Justice Clarence Thomas wrote that the Court's ruling on abortion should cause it to revisit other landmark rulings that protect contraception, same-sex relationships, and yes, marriage equality – meaning those rulings could be overturned, leaving the fate of those rights to who controls the legislature in each state.

State legislatures are where we have the power to protect abortion rights, marriage equality, access to voting, and so much more – and we can have a huge impact on taking them back. But it's going to take all of us investing our time and resources into winning state legislative races nationwide – races Democrats have historically overlooked.

You reading this far shows me you won't turn away from the critical fights happening at the state level. That's why I'm asking:
