The Village of Oswego is packing lots of free family-friendly fun in for your Fourth of July holiday weekend, including two nights of greatest hits at Venue 1012 and a spectacular fireworks show at Prairie Point Park.

“We’re celebrating Independence Day weekend with events for all ages,” Village President Troy Parlier said. “With two fantastic concerts at Venue 1012 and a great fireworks display, Oswego is the perfect place to gather with family and friends.”

Opening the holiday weekend early on June 30 at Venue 1012, R-Gang will perform a free concert with Crawford’s Daughter as part of the Allied First Bank Summer Events Series. Crawford's Daughter will deliver an energetic show featuring rock, blues and soul music at 6:00 p.m. R-Gang turns up the volume and opens the dance floor at 7:30 p.m. with Motown hits and rhythm & blues.

Cold beverages including beer from Oswego Brewing Co. and wine from Fox Valley Winery will be available for purchase along with tasty fare from local food vendors. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Outside food and beverage is not permitted at the event.

On Saturday, July 2, head to Venue 1012 for a free concert with opener Marina City featuring American Idol contestant Ryan Argast at 6:00 p.m. and the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America’s Starlifter at 8:00 p.m. Starlifter will play popular music, as well as patriotic favorites. For this concert only, attendees are welcome to bring in outside food and non-alcoholic beverages.

The holiday weekend celebration wraps up on Monday, July 4 with Oswego’s annual Fourth of July Fireworks display. Located at Prairie Point Park, the show is free and open to the public. Fireworks will begin at dusk, approximately 9:30 p.m. In case of rain, the display will take place on Tuesday, July 5. Picnics are welcome, however alcoholic beverages are not allowed. Pet owners are reminded that many dogs are frightened by fireworks and the Fourth of July is the biggest day of the year for lost dog reports. Please leave your pet at home in a quiet, secure environment.

Due to limited parking, attendees may want to park offsite and walk to Prairie Point Park, 4120 Plainfield Road in Oswego. Parking will be available at Oswego Public Works, the old Traughber Jr. High rear lot, Eastview Academy/District #308 Administration Center, Traughber Jr. High, Prairie Point Elementary and Oswego High School.

Weather information and other updates for the weekend will be posted on Oswego’s Facebook page. Like or follow Oswego on Facebook and Instagram for notifications, including weather-related postponements.

The R-Gang and Starlifter concerts are part of the Allied First Bank Summer Event Series. For more information about Venue 1012 and other summer events, visit www.venue1012.com.
