On July 1st, the Florida GOP’s 15-week abortion ban will go into effect.
Here’s what that means for our state:
Abortions will be banned after 15 weeks of pregnancy – significantly shortening Florida’s 24-week window and putting access for our most vulnerable women and girls at risk
After 15 weeks, reproductive care providers will be forbidden from providing abortions, even in cases of rape, incest, and human trafficking
But what this ban really means, John, is that as of July 1st, women’s rights will be rolled back. Florida women, girls, and sexual assault survivors will have fewer rights and freedoms than they do today.
And that’s exactly what the Florida GOP wants. Make no mistake: the only purpose of this 15-week ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, or human trafficking is to exercise unjust control over women in our state and pave the way for a full abortion ban.
